Re-purposed: The Use of Everyday Materials in Contemporary Art

Reception for the artists: Friday May 14th, 2010 7-10 pm

EMILY AMY GALLERY is pleased to present Re-purposed: The Use of Everyday Materials in Contemporary Art featuring gallery artists Sara Cole, Will Corr, Clayton Santiago, and Sherry Williams. The concept of utilizing found objects and ordinary household materials in contemporary art is not new. There is a strong lineage of artists, beginning with the Dadaists, who repurposed things never before considered 'art' and in turn gave them new life. By exploring media such as coffee, tar, sawdust, and rust, the participating artists express their ability to create seemingly traditional work with non-traditional materials.

Please join us in welcoming these four talented artists to Emily Amy Gallery to celebrate the opening of their show. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served and some of the artists will be present to answer questions. Hope to see you at the opening!
